Acidity in Metros

These days Acidity is aggravating rapidly and penetrating deep into the urban population mainly due the new lifestyle. This life style has also become a major reason for various illnesses, resulting to serious consequences. This life style is forcefully getting into our daily system and includes
· Stress, targeting adults and children alike education, exam tension, office work, finances etc.
· Improper eating habits like eating too late, eating too fast/too slow, skipping lunch/dinner etc.
· Eating non healthy – Junk food, fast food, too spicy, too oily, too pungent ,excess eating of sweet as well as ,excess intake of chocolate, tea, coffee, garlic for long, excess fermented food etc.
All these factors increase the secretion of Hydrochloric acid which is the important component of digestive juices leading to Acidity.

The stomach and some other inner organs which take part in breaking down the food secrete different ferments and hydrochloric acid. Although necessary, the stomach must also be protected from these ferments and acid. If the acid due to the temporary weakness in the normal sphincter mechanism enters the lower part of the Oesophagus it may lead to heartburn. Ulcers can occur if there is an imbalance between the different protecting stomach factors and the stomach juices which help to digest the food. Duodenal ulcers are much more common than gastric, because the first ones arise in the lining of the upper part of the small intestine, and gastric ulcers occur in the stomach.
